zero waste shops
Unpackaged shops sell all kinds of food, cosmetics, cleaning products etc without any packaging. You can fill your own containers with as much or as little as you need which reduces packaging as well as waste. Several ingredients in our soaps come unpackaged from these shops such as cinnamon, coffee, turmeric and poppy seeds.
A list of locations can be found on www.zerowasteswitzerland.ch
Circle Soaps are a member of ZeroWaste Switzerland. An organisation to motivate and support individuals and companies to reduce their waste.
Their values are:
Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Repair & Recycle.

Organic, cold-pressed and unrefined. We buy it from our organic Swiss supplier in recyclable metal containers (with a small plastic lid).
We buy organic coconut oil from our organic Swiss supplier in metal containers which can be reused.
Organic, cold-pressed and unrefined. We buy this through our organic Swiss supplier. Unfortunately this is the only ingredient we haven't been able to find plastic free although we do buy it in 12 litre bags to save as much waste as possible. Please contact us if you are a supplier using metal containers!
Organic and unrefined. We also buy this through an organic Swiss supplier in metal containers.
Pure, organic essential oils. They come in glass or metal bottles with a small plastic lid.
clays & charcoal
Clays cannot be classified as organic as they are not grown. Our supplier packages them in compostable plastic and sends them to us in paper / cardboard packaging.
spices, coffee & seeds
We use organic cinnamon, coffee, poppy seeds and turmeric in our soaps. These are all bought unpackaged from Chez Mamie in Zürich.
The calendula petals we use in our Sunny Side soap are from organically grown flowers from our allotment.
The quality of the ingredients we use in ours soaps is very important to us and we also spend a lot of time and energy finding suppliers that have similar ethics and use sustainable ways to package their products. It is important for us to give our customers not only a zero waste product but ensure them that they are buying from a company that does their best to keep any waste to an absolute minimum and keep their impact on our planet as low as possible, throughout the whole supply chain and production process.

WHAT DOES COLD PROCESS MEAN?
Cold Process soapmaking is a way of mixing oils (olive, sunflower, coconut, shea) with an alkali (lye). The result is a chemical process called saponification, where the composition of the oils change with the help of the lye to create a bar of soap. This process involves a 4-6 week curing time so some patience is needed! Once the soap is fully cured, there won't be any lye remaining.
WHY ARE CIRCLE SOAPS SQUARE?
The name ''Circle'' represents a life-cycle rather than the shape of the soap. As all ingredients come from the ground or a plant and will return to the earth once the soap has been used, they complete a full circle.
HOW LONG WILL MY SOAP LAST?
Hopefully not very long if you enjoy using it! To help your soap last longer, store in a well draining soap dish so it can dry in between uses. Although the soap will be fine to use for much longer, it is best to use within 6 months as the natural scents / colours can fade over time.
ARE ALL YOUR SOAPS VEGAN?
Yes. They are all 100% vegan and always will be! We don't yet have the vegan certification just because it is not economically viable for our small business.
are you qualified to make soap?
Emma completed a course in England to learn the essentials of soap making as well as laws and regulations. All of our soap recipes have been approved by a qualified chemist and are certified safe for sale.
ARE ALL YOUR SOAPS ORGANIC?
All ingredients used in the soaps are completely organic where possible. For example, water and clays are naturally derived ingredients rather than grown and therefore, cannot be classified as organic. For now, the certification is too expensive for a small business but every single ingredient used that can be classified as organic, is.
are your soaps tested on animals?
No! The only animals tested on are us!
are your soaps suitable for babies?
The Minimalist is the most gentle of our soaps as it does not contain any essential oils.
WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
Due to hygiene reasons, we cannot accept returns or exchanges once the soaps have been used.
We hope you will enjoy the soap and will not want to return it but please do get in touch if there is something you are not happy with. We are a new company and welcome any comments / suggestions.
